CALLS TO ACTION.

THIS IS NOT AN ALBUM, THIS IS A MOVEMENT

  • Settler: A non-Indigenous person who lives and resides on Turtle Island and uses the land. Properly defining a Settler is complex as settler colonialism is specific to communities, municipalities, provinces, and countries across Turtle Island.

Settlers benefit by living here because Canadian governments unlawfully dispossessed Indigenous Peoples of their lands and inherent rights for settlement (this term does not inherently encompass refugees or folks who are Indigenous to other places in the world).

Also: A person who arrives, especially from another country, in a new place in order to live there and use the land. (Cambridge Dictionary online)

    • are you a settler?

    • does your family own a home?

    • a summer cabin?

    • a vehicle (or 2)?

    • do your parents have savings accounts?

    • did your parents send you to school?

    • do you have stable income/work?

    • are you light-skinned?

    • is your circle of friends majority settlers?

IF YOU HAVE ANSWERED YES TO ANY/ALL OF THE ABOVE:

    • review the budget you and your family would typically spend for the turkey and whole shabang (avg is $300-600 for a med-lg family, with a mid-level income)

    • re-distribute your colonial feast budget into grassroots Indigenous Direct Mutual Aid

To acknowledge you are a settler is to acknowledge the power and privilege you are responsible to mobilize, in solidarity with Indigenous freedom and Landback.

“Settler” is not an insult, it is a naming of the safety and privileges inherent with being non-Indigenous on stolen Native land.

  • 1) URGENT ONGOING MUTUAL AID in solidarity with BELOVED Two-Spirit youth:

    • 2SMUTUALAID@GMAIL.COM

    • unhoused, high-risk, millenial scoop survivor, SA survivor, Pow Wow dancer and mentor, carver, and protector of the small.

    2) BRIDGE OF SOLIDARITY

    • Bridge of Solidarity is an anti-capitalist mutual aid organization founded in Gaza by Yazan, in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis.

    • All money goes directly to people in need of support, and none is kept for Yazan or other volunteers.

    • These efforts are focused on the most marginalized in Gaza most at risk of dying: people without phones, English skills, social media, wealthy relatives, outside support, and living relatives.

    • These efforts actively combat genocide capitalism with mutual aid, and violent "survival of the fittest" ways of turning on each other with collective care.

    • These efforts also actively combat the ways Palestininas are turned into a spectacle by the English speaking world and West, and are forced into performing on social media in a pity economy and attention economy, always have to compete with each other.

Since five years old - advocating for their rights within the anti-Indigenous family courts system alongside their Ohana - to trailblazing space alongside fellow disabled Two Spirit artists in the colonial-capital music industry.

"An interdisciplinary artist of music, dance, and percussion, KeAloha’s expressive journey began when she learned the traditional dances of her Hawaiian and Tahitian Ohana."

SAD Magazine

"I’ve gone through lots of adaptations as I’ve explored living with chronic illness and learnt about how dance would have to show up differently in my life at certain times, which ended up giving more space for starting my own original music project. My music project is about telling stories and fuelling Indigenous resurgence.

POV: YOU’RE CHRONICALLY ILL N DISABLED NAVIGATING CRUSHING CPTSD DISREGULATION DAILY. YOU’RE RECORDING YOUR DEBUT ALBUM. YOU’RE SELF-PRODUCING THE PROJECT. YOU’RE PLANNING TO BOYCOTT ALL DIGITAL STREAMING PLATFORMS WHICH FEELS SO RIGHT AND ALSO TERRIFYING BECAUSE TRAILBLAZING FOR RIGHT RETURN HOLDS RISK WHEN YOU’RE AN INDEPENDENT INDIGENOUS ARTIST!

RISK TAKING FOR ANTI-COLONIAL FUTURES IS HOT BEHAVIOUR.
